The Common Claim: Jesus never addressed homosexuality! In fact Christians are often accused of making a big deal out of something Jesus never talked about even once!
The Answer: It’s true, Jesus never spoke the words “homosexuality” or “LGBTQ”, or any other common reference to that sinful lifestyle. But, Jesus most certainly did address all of them! How can that be you ask? It’s often overlooked (in some cases ignored) that He not only spoke against the gay lifestyle but he authored the condemnation of it and even oversaw the killing of those practicing it. Hold onto your seats you followers of a “meek and mild” Jesus or the “live and let live” Jesus!
To begin, Jesus of Nazareth, is a member of the Godhead (God the Father, God the Son & God’s Holy Spirit). It is often called the Holy Trinity. Genesis 1:1, tells how in the beginning God created the heavens and how his spirit was moving over the surface of the waters. One by one, one day after another the Godhead created the light, day and night, the dry land, grass, and the beasts. Then in unison they proclaimed in v.26, “let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness” finally creating man and woman. After the woman was made the Godhead blessed them, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…” The Godhead cooperated then and have done so from one end of the continuous account that is the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible to the other.
So Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, has spoken on homosexuality! In fact He not only wrote about how sinful it is but He prescribed the punishment for it! That means He was there at Sodom & Gomorrah sending fire and brimstone raining down on those two cities.
To you practicing a gay lifestyle, wherever you are, whatever you’re doing stop and repent of this sin, one of the worst in God’s eyes! Yes, it is a grievous sin! You are ignoring and violating the Holy Trinity’s ownership and definition of the roles of men and women and marriage. You are violating the Godhead edict that such matters are for His glory and the worship of Him.
There is still time for you to get right with God but only until you draw your last breath. Step out of the darkness and into the light of Christ’s free gracious gift of graciousness. Just find a quiet spot somewhere where you can talk to God and sincerely ask for his forgiveness. Invite His holy spirit to enter and govern your heart and mind. If you do this you will never be the same. You will experience the freedom you have longed for. You will be loved for something more than just your body or performing some carnal act.
